Item Details:
This tree was grown from seeds of an English oak found on the MSU Campus. The original tree dates back prior to 1855 during the Civil War era. It can still be found near Agriculture Hall.
Michigan State University's Heritage Tree Program identifies any tree that was established on campus prior to the founding of the Agriculture College of the State of Michigan in 1855. Additionally, all trees donated and/or planted by a historically significant person, or any tree that has other historical significance to a specific campus feature or program are considered MSU Heritage Trees.

Due to restrictions these trees are only able to be planted in the following states:
Connecticut, Delaware, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Road Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia and Wisconsin.
